40 Days of Prayer: Day 15
Today’s blog was written by Stephanie Casey.
Did you know that on average, a person at rest takes about 16 breaths per minute. This means we breathe about 960 breaths an hour, 23,040 breaths a day, 8,409,600 a year, unless we get a lot of exercise. The person who lives to 80 will take about 672,768,000 breaths in a lifetime. I would say breath is a pretty vital part of our every day lives. Most however, do not really put thought to why they have the ability to take these breaths. If you have ever been really sick either with asthma, bronchitis or pneumonia, you learn to appreciate your breath. It is one of those things God gave you, and one of those things that is easy to overlook as a gift.
The Bible says, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” That means, every living creature, all the earth, all creation. The air we breathe is God breathed in us. Praise and Worship is our response we can give back to God to show our appreciation and thankfulness for the gift of life and breath. He alone is worthy to be praised! No matter your struggle, no matter what pain you are going through, what situations you may be facing, take a minute to stop and BREATHE! God says he will never leave or forsake us and He is with us every step of the way. Breathe in Jesus and Breathe out your bad thoughts, pains, hurts, fears, and doubts. He will fill your lungs full of His breath and His praise! He will give you a new song!
