40 Days of Prayer: Day 11
Today’s blog was written by Ted Johnson. It is number seven of a seven part series on the Lord’s Prayer.
‘And Do Not Lead Us Into Temptation’
‘But Deliver Us From Evil’
‘For Yours Is The Kingdom and the Power
and the Glory Forever, Amen’
‘And do not Lead Us into Temptation’. . .we know that God does not tempt Man. He will test us to prove our Love for Him and to strengthen us in our Christian walk. James 1:13 tells us that ‘God cannot be tempted by evil’ and ‘He Himself does not tempt anyone’. James 1:14 further says: ‘Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed’.
God is everywhere, He is all powerful, He is in control of everything. Nothing comes to a Christian that God does not allow. If He allows something through, it is for our ultimate good as we learned earlier from Romans 8:28. A Christian should desire to be led by God in all His ways. If he doesn’t allow that to be the case he is subject to be led astray by his own lusts and enticed into wrong doing. Therefore, our heart cries out for God not to allow us into temptation because of our own hardheadedness. If we are allowing ourselves to be led by Him we can rest in the fact that we will not be led into temptation.
If we are are determined to resist evil we can cry out to God for Him to Deliver Us From Evil. He will do His part to help us resist but we must do our part to continue to want the victory over evil and not give in to our fleshly desires.
‘For Yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory Forever, Amen’. This is just a concluding phrase emphasizing that we know How Wonderful and Magnificent our God really is. Praise be to God for His wonderful gift of communication with Him called Prayer! What a Privilege we have to know Him in all of HIs fullness. To God Be The Glory Forever & Ever, Amen. . .
